1st-Feb-2012: New Maruti Swift Dzire launch has kick-started the month of love. The ace car maker-Maruti Suzuki India which has recorded a sales growth in January has pulled the wraps off new Maruti Swift Dzire at its Brand Centre in New Delhi. Indians were desperately waiting for this new car which has been produced by chopping off the boot of Maruti Swift Dzire sedan. With the new Maruti Swift Dzire Compact Sedan, Maruti Suzuki has joined the bandwagon of shortening the length of its cars just like Tata Indigo CS, upcoming Tata Manza CS and Mahindra Verito CS, which have been brought under 4 metre now. Indian government charges less excise duty on sub-4 metre cars. This has allowed the car-maker to cut the price of new Maruti Swift Dzire by a small margin. However, adding 150 new features in the car did not result in an exorbitant price decrease. Better known as Swift 3.99, the sedan has been priced at Rs 4.79 lakh starting. Based on brand new Swift hatchback’s platform, it houses the same 1.2 L K 12 petrol engine and 1.3 L DDiS Multijet diesel engine sourced by Fiat. An automatic version is also available on mid petrol variant pegged at Rs 6.5 lakh while the high-end diesel model is tagged at Rs 7.09 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). In total 7 variants have been rolled out by the company and company’s CEO and MD has said that these prices are introductory and will be raised in few months.

16th-Jan-2012: Rs 2.98 lakh is the ex-showroom Delhi price quoted for the LPG version of base model of Hyundai EON i.e. D-lite+. Hyundai India has today, silently slipped in three new LPG variants of its cheapest hatchback-EON. Hyundai EON LPG price for all three new variants- Hyundai EON D-Lite+, Hyundai EON Era+ and Hyundai EON Magna+ is kept around Rs 27,000 higher than their petrol counterparts. Along with the factory-fitted separate 32 litres petrol tank and 34 litres LPG cylinder, new features coming aboard are air-conditioning, gift shift indicator, body coloured bumpers and power steering in D Lite+, front power windows and central locking in Hyundai EON Era+ for Rs 3.12 lakh, 2-Din audio system with USB, Aux-in support in Magna+ model for Rs 3.42 lakh. A two-year warranty is being offered by the company with LPG cylinders. All said the most interesting part of this value addition is that one can go over 12,000 km with a full tank of LPG and petrol. This proves that Hyundai EON mileage has been enhanced considerably in new LPG variants.

6th-Jan-2012: Renault Pulse has been launched at the second day of Auto Expo 2012 amid much fanfare and frolic. Priced at Rs 5.77 lakh (ex-showroom prices), Pulse hatchback has been launched only in diesel guise. Two of its models-Renault Pulse RLX and Renault Pulse RXZ priced at 6.25 lakh have been released from the company’s stable. Renault is givng Indian all reasons to buy this small car by offering warranty of 2+2 years or 80,000 kms whatever happens first. The USP about Pulse launch which will help the new car to sell like hot cakes is that only a diesel version is rolled out. Powered with the 1.5 DCi diesel engine, the car will deliver a promising mileage of 23.8 kmpl. The K9K engine is said to deliver out 64 Bhp peak power @ 4000 rpm and and 160 Nm of peak torque at 2000 rpm.

30th-Jan-2012: New Chevrolet Beat diesel is now accorded the title of ‘Most fuel efficient car’ by delivering 25.44 kmpl, thus surpassing the Tata Indica eV2  which was until now claimed to be the small car associated with highest mileage of 25 kmpl in the country. The body International Center for Automotive Testing (ICAT) has acknowledged Beat diesel as the most fuel efficient car in India after the auto major has endowed the car with a minor engine overhaul to see such a huge improvement in the mileage numbers from the original 24 kmpl to 25.44 kmpl. It is more or less the similar case as seen with Tata Indica eV2 which was later introduced with a similar improvement in the 1.4 L diesel engine to emerge out to be the most fuel efficient car. 11th May 2011: With the ideology of “New thinking New possibilities”, Korean Company Hyundai Motor today finally launched its latest invent “2011 Hyundai Verna Fluidic”. Company is offering Verna with eight engine variants i.e. 1.4L Petrol/1.4L Diesel, 1.6L Petrol/1.6L Diesel, two SX 1.6L petrol/diesel version and two high-end variants with optional features. The 1.6L petrol/diesel engine models are available in two transmission options – Auto transmission and Manual transmission, whereas 1.4L petrol/diesel models have only the manual transmission feature.

This time around, Mahindra and Mahindra has come up with a brand new variant of Mahindra Scorpio LX i.e the 4x4 version. And the best part here is the price of the new Mahindra Scorpio variant. The Mahindra Scorpio LX 4x4 version will cost you only Rs 9.17 lakh, which seems to be a great deal. However, M&M has still not included advanced safety features like ABS and airbags in this new avtaar of Scorpio LX thus making it less loaded than the higher VLX variant. The new Mahindra Scorpio 4x4 comes packed with the same 2.2 litres of mHawk CRDe turbo diesel motor with a displacement of 2179 cc, which keeps the capability to churn out maximum 120 BHP of power distributed proportionally to all 4 wheels of Scorpio with the help of a five speed manual gearbox. This 4 wheel drive promises to give an impressive 15.4 km per litre of mileage on highways, where as 10.5 kmpl mileage in the city. The new Scorpio LX 4X4 include free wheeling hub cap on the wheels and a shift-on-the-fly four wheel drive level on the central console beside the gear lever. Everything else is more or less same as the two wheel drive Scorpio LX except that it has gained almost 100 kgs of kerb weight due to the addition of four wheel drive.

3rd-Jan-2012: Fiat India has cut the ribbon for car launches in 2012 by launching the facelift of Fiat Grande Punto hatchback along with Fiat Linea sedan. Starting at Rs 4.81 lakh now (ex-showroom Delhi price), the price of Fiat Punto has been increased considerably. The high-end variant-Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 Emotion (diesel) is priced at the heftiest tag of Rs 6.71 lakh. In turn, the car maker has changed features and variants. A new color, Oceanic Blue has been added to the wish list of 2012 Fiat Grande Punto. Although engine specs are same, Punto 1.2 now returns 15.2 kmpl, the Punto 1.4 returns 14.6 kmpl and the Punto 1.3 diesel returns 20.3 kmpl mileage now. The base variant is now equipped with integrated audio system and central locking. The interiors are now upgraded with new beige grey color equipments with dual tone dashboard across the range.
